Update: Girl, 12, Struck On River Road In Edgewater OK

EDGEWATER, N.J. -- A 12-year-old girl who was whacked by the side mirror of a turning car as she crossed busy River Road in Edgewater over the weekend was doing fine, authorities said.

"She was conscious and alert and taken to Palisades General Hospital for follow-up care" after being struck Saturday afternoon near the Maramis Cafe, Police Chief Donald Martin told Daily Voice.

The girl required surgery for a severe chin cut, responders said.

The driver received a summons for failing to yield to a pedestrian.
